see below:

Harper's promises on health care???

Harper is also the guy who promised not to cut the income trusts but then, within the first 100 days, or so, cut it to the detriment of investors of, if I recall, approx. $25 billion.

Sorry, my mistake . . .

"The commitment," Harper said, "was not that we would have no taxes for Telus. It was not that we would have no taxes for BCE. It was not that we would have no taxes for foreign investors or no taxes for major corporations. It was a commitment to protect the income of seniors." (Canada.com, 2 Nov.'06)

So, Harper was in favour of increasing the the Corp tax burden, against Corp reducing their taxes.

But Harper is saying the opposite now.

Also, the changes applied to seniors as well so how did it protect seniors.

Applying a bit of Rationality suggests that:

Just think,

If Harper had not eliminated income trusts in '06 then he would not be 'reductio ad absurdum' the Corporate taxes now.

hummm!

When it comes to Health care

Harper simply states in the budget that Health Care transfers after 2013 - 2014 are subject to change.

So, what 'change' could we expect from Harper if he became Prime Minister again.

You can betcha the 6% in Health transfer will be gone - no matter what he says now

If Harper is intending to balance the budget by '14 - '15 with his economic policies

Harper will have to cut the Health Care and/or, Equalization and/or Social Transfers in 2014, or seriously gut them.

It's just that simply.

"First, facts about Canada. Canada is a Northern European welfare state in the worst sense of the term . . ."
Stephen Harper's speech to the Council for National Policy, June 1997 (it doesn't sound like he's joking)
