It is not that Harper "no longer holds these view"

it is that

'Harper no longer expounds these view'

The only wisdom Harper has acquired through experience is to suppress the true expression of his opinions and that of all his Ministers and MP's - that what the gag orders, suppression of the truth, obscuration, obstruction, obfuscation is all about.

This will continue, of course, until he gets a majority, then he will bring them back with a vengeance that will shock and awe.
The proof is simple - give Harper a majority and see how quickly these views come back to the forefront,

and with what expedience Health Care is dismantled, transfer payments nominalized, Federalism dismantled and transferred to the Provinces so that they can build those firewalls, abortion, gay marriages, etc., are 're-visited'.

There is a huge difference in wanting to eliminate Canada's Health Care and suggesting the Canadian flag might make a beer label.

Harper's views, that it is suggest there he no longer holds, are the principles of a right-wing, extremist ideologue, the fundamental planks in the right-wing, extremist Con'ism.

These extremist views are ingrained in Harper's very being. The only thing that is not hypocritical about Harper is the true devotion he pays to these principles, no matter how disingenuous he is in his 'lip service'.

They are as much a part of him as any other aspect of his personality.

Harper does not expound them, while he has a minority for no other reason than being quickly and summarily booted out of power.

Harper hasn't changed he has merely suppressed the expression of these views
